NA Review: Jock Hard Series by Sara Ney

Well, well, well... As some of you may know, I love NA novels. I think it's one of my favorite genres (not including fantasy, obviously) because it's fun and unproblematic; sometimes you just need a sexy, funny story. A few months ago, I decided that I wasn't going to read anything until I finished reading the Shadowhunters novels, yet here I am writing this review. I couldn't stop myself, I was feeling down and in need of some *whispers* smut, so I decided to put on hold my Shadohunters-athon. Turning to my good, old friend Goodreads I searched for NA novels that I might enjoy. I came across the Jack Hard Series by Sara Ney and gave it a shot. This series consists of three novels and two novellas, each book in this series can be considered a stand-alone novel.

The first book, Jock Row, consists of your typical ordinary-looking college girl who has drop-dead gorgeous friends. This group of friends go to a party hosted by the university's baseball team and are encountered with hot and sexy athletes. It's all drinking and flirting until baseball team captain gets asked to kick out our protagonist for cock blocking the baseball team and her friends. At first, I wasn't invested in their relationship because the main girl really got under my skin, and I just couldn't stand her. However, I decided to continue reading because the team captain was quite attractive and likable up to a certain point. I gave this book 2.5/5 stars on Goodreads because I, as a Spanish speaker, cringed way too much when Ney stated phrases in Spanish like "muy caliente", honestly, we do not say shit like that. Also, the author decided that a girl being "domestic" was a huge turn on, for instance, she states, "Observing her doing anything domestic gives me the biggest fucking boner". C'mon we are in the 21st century, do you really need to get all hot and bothered with the way she "make[s you] a sandwich"?

The second book, Jock Rule, is about an engineering major girl who meets a Rugby player at one of their parties. Basically, this girl was standing near the keg for some unexplainable reason (really, we never found out why?!?) and this tall, hairy guy approaches her and tells her how stupid she is for standing near the keg and serving beer to anyone who asked as they are taking advantage of how naive and nice she is. Let me tell you, this novel really freaking sucked!!! I had to pause every ten minutes because it made me fall asleep. The main characters were boring, their "connection" was non-existent, the guy was hairy and nasty, and I just didn't like anything about this book. I decided to DNF this book after reading 64% of it. I could have DNF it since I was 5% in, but I wanted to write a blog about the shittiest NA series I've read so far. However, I made a terrible mistake choosing to continue because this was honestly so shitty. I can't even explain how disgusting it was to read that first "sexy" scene. It seemed forced and just awkward in general. This might be the worst book I've read in 2019 so far. I honestly cannot explain how terrible it was, please, do not read this unless you want to negatively criticize it with me (but not even then, don't read it, it's not worth your time).

Obviously, I will not be reading the third book in this series because I don't think I can go through this experience again *shivers*, and I don't think I will ever read anything written by Sara Ney.
