Book Review: Breaking the Plan (Mill Series Book 1) by Jessica Calla

Oliver Stoneridge has always had a plan. Go to Harvard's Law School in Cambridge, graduate and move to New York City to work at a law firm, and marry his best friend and childhood girlfriend - Violet. That is until his girlfriend decides that she needs "space" and leaves New Jersey to study abroad. Leaving Oliver heartbroken, he decides to ask Violet's roommate and best friend - Taryn Markos - for help to get her back. The problem is they can't stand each other. Taryn decides to help Oliver if and only if he helps her write an essay for one of her classes. It isn't until after they've spent so much time together getting to know each other when they realize that there might be something going on between them. I received this book on May 2019, and finally got around to it. This story was easy to read, cute, funny, and quite sexy! I personally love sexy-nerds, and I can't express how much of a turn on Oliver actually is. However, what really got my atten...

Book Review: I Spy the Boy Next Door by Samantha Armstrong

The protagonist, Mallory, has been spying the boy next door, Troy, for the past five years. The only time they interacted, it didn’t go so well. Mal has been homeschooled until the day she decides it’s time to go to public school for her senior year. Encounters with Troy at school and on social events, spark a new sense of interest that Mal hadn’t felt before.  The author did an amazing job with her writing style, and the characters were very likable. Troy reminded me of Edward Cullen and Travis Maddox, who are some of my top fictional boyfriends. I was originally going to give this book 3/5 stars because the plot twist was bizarre and far-fetched; however, I decided that overall the characters increased my rating. This is a NA romance novel that truly shocked me with its ending, and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in an easy, fun read.  *I received an ARC of this book from its publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

NA Review: Jock Hard Series by Sara Ney

Well, well, well... As some of you may know, I love  NA novels. I think it's one of my favorite genres (not including fantasy, obviously) because it's fun and unproblematic; sometimes you just need a sexy, funny story. A few months ago, I decided that I wasn't going to read anything until I finished reading the Shadowhunters  novels, yet here I am writing this review. I couldn't stop myself, I was feeling down and in need of some *whispers* smut , so I decided to put on hold my Shadohunters-athon . Turning to my good, old friend Goodreads  I searched for NA novels that I might enjoy. I came across the Jack Hard Series by Sara Ney and gave it a shot. This series consists of three novels and two novellas, each book in this series can be considered a stand-alone novel. The first book, Jock Row , consists of your typical ordinary-looking college girl who has drop-dead gorgeous friends. This group of friends go to a party hosted by the university's baseball team and a...

Book Review: New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

I would like to start off by stating that the Twilight Saga was the first book series that I ever read after Diary of a Wimpy Kid (yeah, I know, what a shocker!). I read New Moon for the first time when I was 13 years-old. I read it again when I was around 15 years-old. Now that I'm almost 19 (it took me a few months to finish this review, so your girl is 19 now!), I decided that I needed to reread it so that I could compare my thoughts on the plot, writing style, and characters. First, the plot is f*cking stupid and dumb. I do not understand the reason why Edward would leave Bella when he clearly is head over heels for her - I mean he would sneak through her bedroom window to watch her sleep, and let me add that he would put oil on the window so it wouldn't make any noise. I know, what a creep! The point is, it seems like Meyer didn't know where the story should lead to (in fact, she hadn't even planned on writing a sequel, so I guess it makes some sense). Also, I ...

Book Review: 99% Faking It by Chris Cannon

First, I would like to state that I enjoy reading about fake relationships that develop into real ones way more than I probably should. However, my typical fake-to-real love novels involve a sexy boss who lives in New York City and is a complete asshole. I was browsing through NetGalley 's titles when I came across 99% Faking It . I'm the type of reader who gets drawn in instantly with the title of a novel or its cover. Obviously, the phrase "faking it" caught my attention right away. This novel is about a nerdy-girl, Lisa, who has a crush on her friend, Matt. The problem is he likes another girl. After Lisa mentions that people usually want what they can't have, Matt proposes that they pretend to date each other in order to help Matt get his crush's attention and Lisa can get a date with the hot, cool new guy in school. As their plan is being executed, Matt realizes that he doesn't want Lisa to date any other boy, so he declares his new and confused feeli...

Book Review: Maybe It's You by Christy Hayes

I requested this book on NetGalley  because I thought the cover was adorable. I thought it was going to be a cute, contemporary novel; I was surprised when I realized that this is, in fact, New Adult Christian Fiction. I have never been a big believer myself, and I never pictured myself reading a Christian book. However, I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed it. The main character, Dash, is funny, kind, and completely honest (that is something that I love about people). The female protagonist, Reagan, is sassy, funny, and, in some way, reminded me of myself. It was fascinating to see how Dash decided to change his path and devote himself to God after realizing the danger he was putting himself in. However, what really struck me the most was the way Reagan opened up to God, even after she had never done so before. This novel really made me think about my religious beliefs, and I recommend this to anyone who is confused or wants to strengthen his/her connection to God. I gave this ...

January Wrap-Up

January is the month when everyone states, "New year, new me," and, honestly, for me it's more like "New year, new books." However, being a freshman in college, interferes with my reading goals, yet I managed to read a total of ten books this month. Walking Disaster  by Jamie McGuire (4/5 stars) Travis and Abby's story is narrated by the one and only Travis "Mad Dog" Maddox. In this novel, we get to see how Travis' life changed the minute he saw Abby after one of his fights. A life full of drinking, fighting, and women is turnt into a life full of caring, friendship, sacrifices, and love. Travis' narration, in my opinion, gives an edge to this story. I truly recommend this series to people who are into bad boys who end up being actual sweethearts. (Listen to "Thing For You" by Hinder when you read chapter 13) The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger (4/5 stars) Who knew a word could make a girl go mad? Or...
